According to a report released by Samar, Poland’s vehicle market researcher, the country’s market for new cars sold 24,670 units in July, down by over 8% month-over-month, but rising 5.2% year-over-year.
In the year-to-July period, a total of 193,554 units were sold, which represents a 0.75% improvement year-over-year. The above tally also includes sales of passenger cars converted to LCV specification offering tax breaks to corporate buyers.
However, Samar is quick to point out that Poland’s car sales numbers are hardly comparable with the country’s actual registration figures. Accordingly, in the January-June period there were a combined 140,895 registrations overall, but the number of new cars reported as sold stood at 168,885.

With the roughly 141,100 new-cars registered in Poland during the first half of the year, the tally was off by some 15.5% on the year.
In June alone, Poland’s new-car registrations totalled 22,133, down by roughly 19% year-over-year.
