Romanian president goes for Dacia Logan

Date of publication: 2008-11-24 11:10:24

Romania’s president Traian Basescu said he would swap a Volkswagen he owned for an example of the locally-made Dacia Logan. The move reflects the politician’s effort to win customer support for the country’s automotive industry suffering in the wake of the global financial crisis.

The low-cost Dacia Logan is produced at Romania’s Pitesti plant, now a Renault Group subsidiary. The country’s automotive industry has been suffering in the wake of the global financial crisis, with Dacia being forced to temporarily suspend production due to falling sales.
