Below you can find a Top-10 list of Germany’s most-registered new-car models of 2009. With over 366,000 units, the No.1 product was Volkswagen’s Golf, whose sales volume jumped by some 58% year-over-year.

For the whole of 2009, Germany’s new-car registrations stood at 3,807,175, rising by 23.2% year-over-year.

These were Germany’s top-3 most popular new-car brands January-to-December:
- Volkswagen: 805,262 (+30.9%)
- Opel: 338,603 (+31.1%)
- Ford: 290,620 (+33.7%)

In the ranking of the country’s most popular models of 2009, Volkswagen’s Golf/Jetta led the way with over 366,000 registrations, rising by a huge 58.3% and buoyed by the government-backed scrapping subsidies.
