Jaguar and Land Rover are considering plans to move upmarket and launch in the super luxury category.
According to the Financial Times, David Smith, the brands’ chief executive, believes both companies can be taken “a lot further up the market”.
It is believed that the carmakers are considering the move to launch products in the GBP 100,000 bracket - the preserve of only a handful of carmakers, including Bentley and Aston Martin.
While there is no timescale until such cars are launched, Jaguar and Land Rover executives believe it is the emerging markets, such as China and Russia, that will provide the largest potential markets.
