In future, all Fiat models will be available with a stop-start system that cuts the engine in traffic jams or at traffic lights. To be launched this autumn on the Fiat 500 supermini, the stop-start technology will be available to buyers as one of the vehicle’s standard equipment features.
Stop-start technology helps to significantly improve a vehicle’s fuel consumption and lower its CO2 emissions in city driving. After the 500 supermini, other Fiat cars will follow within the next 12 to 18 months as the Italian automaker moves to introduce its next-generation or face-lifted models.
Later on, the stop-start system will also be available on Lancia and Alfa Romeo cars.
