India's TATA Motors is poised to re-enter the European market with the launch of the new Indica small car. The newcomer is expected to cost the equivalent of EUR 7,000 in the home market.
The new TATA Indica is expected to hit Europe as early as this year. The Indian-made small car will feature Fiat's 1.3-litre diesel and 1.2-litre petrol engines, first to be commercialised in Italy and Spain.

A company official said the new Indica might be launched also in Poland and the UK at a later date.

The previous-generation TATA Indica, known as  the CityRover in the UK, failed to spark much customer interest.
